Wow, this app rocks. It took me a little bit of use before I figured out how to cancel a route, but overall I was very happy to have this great app while on a trip to Brazil for the first time a few weeks ago. It worked well on both my iPhone 4, and IPad 2 with GPS.
Although it doesnt need 3G or data, you do need Internet for any searches. What I did was setup all my searches while at hotel wifi, and saved destinations to favourites. Also, saved hotel as home location, and then could easily get route back home.
The POI nearby is a nice feature, but it was not a huge selection for some locations. I mainly used it in Sao Paulo and Rio De Janeiro. The route by walking versus car mode was most helpful.
Note that my iPad 2 has the GPS feature, so it worked as well. You need to authenticate the app just once on Internet connection, so be sure to launch it at least once before traveling.
Excellent app... I have also downloaded the Navfree for France, Canada and USA. it would be nice if the Navfree apps all shared my preferences, so I didnt have to set each one up for kilometers, etc.
Although the app description says no Internet needed for address searches, that didnt seem to be the case for me. It would say cant contact server if I tried any address searches without Internet.
I was using it driving from Sao Paolo to the coast. As a free app as awesome as any other you need to pay for !
Some bad moments

The GPS App is really great and free. But the maps depend the colaborations of all user. Its a OpenStreetMap. All users can edit and update streets, cities and states.
Good interface but miss important details in brazilian version.
This free ap looks cool and promises all the essentials, but fails to function well on various fronts. Most important is the fact that the changes you can suggest are very limited. Since the device is preset with extremely incorrect speed limits and is missing many, many, many streets, it can get you in trouble, both in terms of speeding tickets and getting lost. I dont recommend it. Radare Brasil is still the best of the lowcost or free GPS aps. O problema é que as velocidades são totalmente erradas e não tem como corrigir. Alias, está faltando milhares de ruas também, então é fácil de se perder. Não vale a pena instalar.
This app was telling me to turn left on one way streets--going the opposite direction multiple times. It ended up guiding me to a ghetto in a town that was far from my destination. I was trying to drive to an international airport. I believe the directions provided by this app placed me in danger. I will now delete it.
O sistema de busca do Google não funciona, mesmo com wifi.
The Google serch system just dont works, nether in wifi connection.
